Sedimentary rocks are rocks that are formed from particles
of others rocks or hard animal and plant remains which become compressed in due
course of time. When the rocks and minerals get eroded, the sediments from them
are carried away by running water wind or ice.
They get deposited in water bodies and keep on piling up to
eventually harden into rocks. Cemented together. Chalk is made from the shells
and skeletons of millions of small sea creatures. Limestone is formed when
chalk is subjected to pressure. The particles in sedimentary rocks very in size
from fine grained clays and mudstones to medium grained sandstones to pebbles
and boulders.
