Did Sherlock Holmes Really Exist?

Sherlock Holmes is taken to be one of the most famous detectives of all time. But the fact is that he was just a fictional character created by the novelist, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, who lived from 1859 to 1930. Sherlock Holmes becomes so popular and caught people’s imagination, that it was thought that he really existed and they looked from his house at 221B Baker Street, London. The stories, mostly set in London at the end of the 19th century, describe Holmes as an odd and very different person with amazing powers of concentration, who smoked a pipe and played violin. He had an assistant, Dr. Watson, who was not very brilliant.
