William Shakespeare was a great dramatist and is probably
the most famous name in English literature. He is most famous for his 36 plays
which include ‘Romeo and Juliet’, Light comedy, ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ and
dark tragedies like ‘Hamlet’, ‘Macbeth’ and ‘King Lear’. Shakespeare was born in
1564 in Stratford on Avon in England and was educated and married these. But at
the age of 20 he left for London where he got involved with the theatre. There
he acted, directed and wrote plays. At the end of his life, he returned to
Stafford. His plays are acted and studies worldwide.
